Event Summary
The Kal-Haven Trail Run took place on Saturday, March 24th, 2012. The 33.5-mile event included a solo run designated as the RRCA (Road Runners Club of America) State Ultra Championship, a 2-person team relay, and a 3-6 person team relay. We sold out prior to the event in all of the races, increasing our numbers over prior years to 580 registered runners! We had 88 solo finishers, 43 2-person team finishers, and 70 3-6 person team finishers. Although we are still calculating exact totals, we will likely far exceed our donation from last year to the local Girls on Track program (program of the Greater Kalamazoo Girls on the Run)!
The higher temperatures appeared to benefit many of the runners, as many course records were broken this year including: Male Open, Male Senior Grand Masters, Female Open, and Female Masters in the Solo event and Male Team and Female Team in the 2-Person Team Event! The event would not have been possible without our amazing sponsors and over 40 volunteers! Sponsors provided financial support, awards for our category winners, shirts for our solo finishers, physical therapy support, and aid station and finish line supplies. Shirts
2012 Race Participants – if you registered for the race after the shirt deadline and did not receive a shirt, there are extras available. We have a limited quantity of S, M, and L Male participant shirts; and Small and XL Female Participant shirts. They can be picked up at the Kalamazoo Gazelle Sports location (214 South Kalamazoo Mall) until April 16th.
Solo finishers that did not receive an Ultra Finisher shirt may also pick up their shirts at the Kalamazoo Gazelle Sports location until April 16th. There are a limited quantity left of Male S-XL and Female S and L shirts.
Lost & Found
Most of the lost/misplaced items from last Saturday have found their owners; but what we are left with are:
1) Red sunglasses
2) Yellow Nalgene water bottle
3) Pair of grey running gloves
4) Burgundy long sleeve running shirt
5) Blue XX- large hospital scrub top
